Winter in the Desert - Tucson, AZ

FEbruary 25 - March 2, 2012

Photography Adventure Workshop with

Terry Abrams

The city of Tucson evokes a feeling of the ‘wild west’ in many people, but it is also home to one of the finest collections of photography in the world. As part of our creative exploration, we will visit the Center For Creative Photography at the University of Arizona.

Arriving in Phoenix, we will drive to Tucson in 3 full-size cars. Our hotel is a spa/golf hotel located in the foothills of the mountains, and this will provide a relaxing environment for our non-photographic activities. Amenities at the hotel include full spa services, free wireless internet, restaurants and nearby hiking trails.

During the days, we will photograph around the Tucson area, visiting Suguaro National Park, the Arizona Sonora Desert MuseumMission San Xavier del Bac, historic structures, petroglyphs and other locations of interest.

Termperatures in Tucson at the end of February are generally in the mid 70s. We will take some gentle hikes through the desert on easy trails to make our photographs. I will provide on-site instruction during the day and we will review images made on a regular basis. This workshop is limited to 11 participants.

This workshop is appropriate for all levels of photographic knowledge, and I will be showing a variety of techniques, such as selective focus, effective use of lenses, camera stability, live view, HDR photography and panoramic stitching. In addition, we will concentrate on making photographs that depict your unique creative view of the subjects.
